This is a variation on my poem, Soul Story where I substituted ‘America’ as the focus of the work. Based on our current Covid climate, it seemed an appropriate plea for after this pandemic has subsided.

sees me walking my dog.
you ain’t got the virus?
i ain’t got the virus, i say
your dog got the virus?
my dog ain’t got the virus.
how come you’re wearing
a mask if you ain’t got it?
because i don’t want it.
